Musical chairs: the gt ecu ed.

Whats up guys? I was having issues with my car and I was thinking it was the ecu, so i ended up taking it to a shop where a guy there I knew owned a 3s... however, now he doesnt seem so bright anyway

They put a MD 192591 ecu in my car, this is a fed spec non turbo ecu from a 94-95

Now I went to pick up my car last night, and it is smoking (did not when i took it in) and the gas light is on yet the tank is fullrunaround wtf?

Anyway, im guessing its the ecu not being the same My ecu was MD159963. So are these ecus compatible as the shop said, and theyve messed something else up? or is it the ecu's? thanks... Adam.

Re: Musical chairs: the gt ecu ed.

Definitely nopt the same, but the smoking and the gas light I dont see having anything to do with the ECU.

Re: Musical chairs: the gt ecu ed.

HOLY SHITE! Its over! I finally have my car back! and its about time too, I was so sick of bumming rides!

but that shop obviously sucks now, they had screwed up the wiring so the gas light was on (they fixed that today), the smoking was weird because it went away after the first time i drove it... anyway, finally im back on the road, and I gotg some dough off the bill because I yelled at them for messing up the gas light.

now for a few test weeks and if im satisfied its running good, i'll be putting on my lightwieght pulley

Re: Musical chairs: the gt ecu ed.

smoke could have just been condensation in the exhaust from sitting. or possibly your valve guide seals leak a little, no big deal. if i let mine sit for more than a day or 2 i get some smoke for a minute on startup.
