tranny swap?
I have a 1989 jimmy 4x4 4.3. My ? is the tranny just went out and i have a 1986 4x4 chevy suburban 700r4 sitting in the garage fresh rebuild with shift kit!. Will it go in my truck, and is it all the same, and will my transfer case bolt up? Thanks anybody who can help
P.S. it all looks the same from under the truck? |

If both 4X4 and 700R-4 transmissions and both have the same transfer case maybe.
Different transfer cases have different output shaft on rear of transmissions. Wiring may be different on lockup. Check lockup wiring on both transmissions. Get your old one out and match it with the one you are putting in on tail shaft and lockup wiring . And do not forget to flush you rad transmission cooler. Good luck. MT

Wiring is the same, but like MT mentioned, if the transfer case is different, then thats where you'll have the problems. Count the number of bolts from the tranny to the transfer case. If its the same amount on the other tranny....you have a match.
