keyless entry, how to disable horn chirp?

I have a 2002 Blazer and I would like to know how to disable the horn chirp when arming the vehicle. I find this very annoying, as sometimes when I put it into park, the vehicle will un-arm itself giving the double chirp. I have searched and searched to no avail, I don't even know what to search for?

I would prefer if the alarm did what it actually says in the manual, "UNLOCK: When you press UNLOCK, the driver's door will unlock automatically, the parkig lamps will flash and the interior lamps will go on."

Thanks!!!

Re: keyless entry, how to disable horn chirp?

If you have an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry (sometimes even 'factory' issue are aftermarket-especially older trucks) this is very easy - just cut and insulate the wire to from the alarm brain to the horn wire in the truck (on GM it is usually black 18-20 ga coming down in a bundle of wires from the steering column/wheel. You should see where someone attached the wire from the alarm to the horn wire.

If you have a true factory keyless entry, it might be possible to disable the horn honks through a series of programming steps as outlined in the owner's manual (might be only late model trucks). - sorry my experience is mainly with the aftermarket alarms/remote starts. Hope this helps. - Mike
