Looking for a first car.. need suggestions

as title says.. im looking for a first car..
im looking for a car that i can repair and maintain and later one put new parts into... looking for something that can take lots of parts..
HAS to be 4 door... sister has a 2 door and im ALWAYS stuck in the back.. i dispise 2 doors... other than that.. just an all around good car.. for daily driving and maybe some other stuff
any suggestions???

yea i was thinking about an old corolla... like 89, 90
their cheap and just incase i wanna do alil drifting..
if i go with a corolla what kinda things should i look for in it??
i also want to get a manual car... but i donno if thats a good choice...
i am a beginner driver and manual might not be the greatest decision...
should i start with a auto or manual???
