Renaissance Trans Kits

Hello, I am new here and was hoping someone could help me. I have never dealt with resin kits before but recently ordered the two Renaissance Trans Kits for the Nissan R390 1998 Le Mans. I did this based on the fine example in the gallery.

Anyway, one of the transkit bodies is badly warped. Viewed from the front, one front fender is about .25 inch higher than the other. The whole thing seems sort of twisted. I can get it back into shape with finger pressure.

Is this going to be ok? Is there anyway to reset the body's shape or will gluing it to the Tamiya frame lock it in place? Also I assume that I should use super glue here—the sparse instructions assume a lot more experience with this type of thing…

Have you tried using hot water as a softening agent then holding the body in the desired position until cool? Not too hot though! Oh, welcome to AF!!!

The hot water treatment usually works. Put the warped section in the water long enough to heat it up really good, then straighten the body and hold it there til it cools. It may take a couple of tries to get it straight.:frog:

Where did you get the transkit from?

I ordered them from MediaMix. Wong has already emailed me privately about the matter after seeing my post here. This really surprised me! As I told him, I am amazed with this level of service.

The box was badly dented in shipping but the items were packed so well that nothing broke. If you've seen how delicate the parts are that’s pretty amazing. I suspect heat or humidity along with pressure on the package had something to do with the warp.

Anyway, I will try the hot water trick and everything should be great.
