Exclamation 94 Galant - Tranny?

A friend of mine purchased a 94 Galant several months ago with approx. 145k miles on it. It's already had most of the chronic Galant issues repaired...valves are new as is the head gasket. The car runs pretty well for it's age.

Several days ago the car got left on the side of the road. She claims she heard some noise coming from the front and then the RPMS jumped as the car came out of gear. (Automatic) It has since been towed to a safe location (my shop) but will not operate in any gear. It seems as if the tranny is not engaging the flywheel on the motor.

Could the clutch be the culprit here? Bearing maybe? The tranny fluid is not burned nor does it have any debris in it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
