2002 gti vr6 12v - question
just bought this vr6 with 50k miles on it. i filled up the gas tank for the first time, and shortly after that it threw a CEL. i then looked in the manual and saw that the car should fill up on unleaded premium. is the CEL possibly due to the wrong kind of fuel? any help is appreciated, thanks.

Well did you fillup with diesel if you did then that's the wrong fuel. I wouldn't put any of that E85 in it b/c it's not mean to run that. 89fuel and up is ok as long as you don't have a GIAC or other chip to help with hp then you have to use 91.

I have the exact same car... the fuel grades shouldnt throw any codes, I run 87, 89, and 93 in mine. The engine fire just misses when you run the cheap stuff.
