soldier in need of help!

allright, i need some serious info, i got deployed and my car that my brother was holding got impounded and now costs more than its worth to get out. i am beginning some research into a new vehicle, i am a die hard toyota fan but my interest has been supras mostly, so most of my sources and knowledge only helps supras, though a supra is my project car i need something more fun to drive with a small investment of money. i want an mr2 circa '86, and do a motor swap, most likey for something like a blacktop corola engine, if there is already a source out there point me to it, i found a couple of pages to get the motor and car, but how easily will it bolt up, i know toyota loves to use similar blocks for other cars, i put a japanese supra na motor in my dads cressida for about $650, basically what i want is a badass go-cart to drive when i get back in the states, and not looking to spend much more than about 3-4k on it, anybody got any really good resources or tidbits?? and obviously i do all the labor, 3-4k on parts i mean.

Go to http://www.mr2.com/forums/

Supras are awesome but I would guess it will be twice as expensive as an MK1 MR2. Good luck!

Re: soldier in need of help!

I just sold an 89 hardtop with a silvertop swap for $3000. It's a VERY easy swap to do if you have some mechanical knowledge and tools. The mr2oc is the best place to find writeups (there is a link for a step by step IIRC). I'll try to find some links for you.

If you plan on going from no car to complete, expect to spend 1000-2000 on the car, 1000 on the engine/tranny/ecu/sensors, 1000 in parts.
