Camaro SS running hot! @_@

ok.. car keeps running hot.. its going about 235 at hottest, its really sporadic, sometimes itll go 235, sometimes itll drop down to 190/ish when im on the freeway.. when i slow down, it rises up to 235..SOMETIMES.

very sporadic. i thought the fan wasnt going on, but sometimes when im idling (for long times) it doesnt go up at all.

also, car smells somewhat like cat going to hell..

oil is VERY clean, almost as if the engine isnt getting the oil? idk, its weird.. ususally the oil gets dirtier.

so..

rad fan? oil not oiling? cat plugged? what do you guys think?

Re: Camaro SS running hot! @_@

pretty sure my system is airfree, since i did use the bleed valve.. but when i took off the heater core, i lost one of the bleed valves.. (i bypassed it) since then tho, my temp has usually been down..so it shouldnt be the water..

if i take off the cat, how would i know its plugged? would it be all black and stuff? smell? sight? or id have to just change it anyway

Well, 230 isn't all that bad, chekc the radiator out and make sure the fins aren't clogged up with junk prohibiting air flow through it.

Re: Camaro SS running hot! @_@

yeah, the first time i noticed it climbing up, i had a plastic bag in the front, but i knew it was there cuz i sucked it in while driving on the freeway.. since then, the heats been always up? so im just kinda confused.

i gutted one cat (yeah, i know..i shouldnt) but i had to, cuz it was easier then getting a new one.. i need to gut one more, and ill see how much more mpg i get..

Re: Camaro SS running hot! @_@

ok, gonna get the 2nd cat un-catted- on monday. its welded in there (idiot owner before me) so i gotta get it cut.

i changed t-stat, looks like i already had an aftermarket one..? weird, also, the car seems to run better w. the AC on, since the 2nd fan kicks on. any indication of anything to you guys? i stil havent blown out the radiator of dust yet, i should soon.. i did have the car sitting for amonth in my dusty garage, so that could be the prob..but i figured after going 70ish for a while, it should blow out anyway.. guess not,

im recently changed the darn temp sensor so i know thats a-ok.

gonna change oil in a few days also! yay (one week til school, Summer school just ended, projects all going on at once)

im also trying to do a projector light mod.. fit the driving lights with (big) bmw projectors, we'll see if it works or not. =p if i do, im prolly gonna get HID's so they run cooler.
