WIP: Ferrari 612

Just what everyone wants to see: another Ferrari!!! At least this one isn't resale red. It's duplicolor dark blue metallic with duplicolor clear.

This was my "test body" for new paints, techniques, etc, until I decided to see if it could be restored. A few baths in DOT3, scrubbing, 91%, easy off oven cleaner, DOT3 and a ton of 220 grit sandpaper, we wind up with this:

It's only dried for about 24 hours before the first 2000 grit wetsand, polish and wax. I think the paints a little soft still. I'll go back and try again in a few days. The clear just doesn't look that "deep".

I know the 612 is generally regarded as not being a good looking Ferrari. I personally think the car looks good, especially in the non-traditional Ferrari cars. It can end up looking very luxurious IMO. These pics remind me of the Infiniti ads where the shape is highlighted. I think the 612 is very powerful looking:

More later!

Yeh, the 612 is a bit nondescript looking, but it does have a sort of oddball style about it doesn't it? And I see Hiroboy's black backgrounds have inspired you!! Great photography, keep experimenting.

Re: WIP: Ferrari 612

I think the 612 is a very nice car in its own way. It's not like other Ferraris, it's not a natural born supercar, it has luxurious elegance in it. I think it looks good both in person and in scaled down!

As for yours, I like it! I think this color is really very good choice to a 612. This makes this car elegant. What color is that exactly? I like it. I suppose you some light tone interior, tan or ivory or even light grey, that would give it a very luxurious feeling in the interior also.

Keep us updated during the progress, please!

Nice paint!

I am also think that the 612 looks just fine and nice - but you do need to evaluate it in the context it was designed for i.e. not the race track

I was actually thinking about a black, grey and titanium silver interior. I don't have beige flocking right now, so all my interiors involve black in some way!

I personally think the 612 was simply fantastic and love it very much! Actually I'm a fan of Mr. Okuyama lol~~~ Nice works so far, the color was very original, looking forward to the result!
