Strange electrical / tranny problem today

After starting my modded '99 GTP and heading down the road today I was hit with a strobe like effect from my HUD, TSC, ABS, and other dash idiot lights. It stopped blinking and flashing after a couple of miles but I noticed that it wouldn't downshift. ( no 4-2 downshift in performance shift mod either ) When I got to the first red light 15 miles later it stayed in 3rd or 4th gear and wouldn't start out in 1st gear. I could manually get it into 2nd but still no 1st. I pulled over and checked the fluid but it was full, red, and not burnt. I limped it to my destination and 30 minutes later when I started it back up it ran and shifted fine, no problems at all. Its been 2 years since all the mods were installed and I've never had any problems. Has anybody else had a gremlin like this ? Were is a good place to start looking for the problem ? These electrical problems can be fustrating. Thanks for any suggestions.....

First things to check are the battery condition, battery cable connections and charging system. If they check out, you may have the first signs of a bad ignition switch/harness assembly common to these cars.
