ASD fuse blowing

I have a 1997 Breeze 2.0L that died the other day at an intersection. Found a blown ASD fuse under the hood and replaced. Car ran normally for next 2 days (maybe 50 miles). Died again today pulling into a parking lot. Again, blown ASD fuse, however now the fuse blows the second you install a fresh one and crank the engine. I have swapped out the ASD relay just in case but did not solve anything. I'm assuming I have a short somewhere?
Does anybody know of any known issues regarding this problem or maybe can point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any help!

Oh yeah... what the heck is the function of the ASD system anyway???
