Envoy - key will not turn in ignition

I have a 2006 Envly XLT. When I put the key in the ignition, it will not turn. The bells ding saying the keys are in, but I cannot turn the ignition to start the car. Does anyone know what may be wrong? I have not driven the car for 2 days, but I had no problems before now.

Hello, I have this same problem this morning when I put in the key and turn it to RUN position it doesn't start but it turns to that position, it wasn't the battery. its got to do something with my ignition switch i believed!!!...please help if u experienced this problem and had it fixed!!!......

Hello, had the same problem, the dealer had to change the ignition switch.....twice within a year.

All the symptoms that you have experienced, are the same as mine.

Dec 31, 2007 - My Envoy was towed to the dealership because it wasn't starting and also the problem with ignition switch. They had to replace the starter and the ignition switch. I just hate this suv now because too many problems with it...

I had this problem before too, it is the ignition switch that either jammed or unfunction. may need a replacement, the price is around $60 CND for the unit its easy to install it, just take out the under-cover steering wheel column.
