Exclamation Brake Problem

Ever since we drove our '06 civc to Tahoe we have been having this problem. Usually after the car sits over night, when we go to drive it the brake pedal only moves about 1/2 way down, is extremely hard to push and the brakes barely stop the car. My wife has had to use the emerg brake to stop the car once. If we let the car sit for a minute or two idling and/or pump the brakes once or twice they work fine. No other problems with the brakes at all, just this one.

Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions? The dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem and the brake system looks fine. (story of my life)

Re: Brake Problem

I would just keep taking it to the dealer. Its under warranty so you shouldn't really have to deal with it.

Re: Brake Problem

Ya, I will, as long as they don't charge me for looking at it every time. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

Re: Brake Problem

sounds like you got a bad pressure regulator in the system. the dealer has to fix it under warranty anyway, no matter how many times you take it there., if they cant replictae the problem, ask to let you drive the car and try to replicate it with a tech in the car too.

Re: Brake Problem

its the brake booster not getting any vacuum big black cylinder thing by the master cylinder take the big hose off and feel the difference in braking power the booster uses manifold vacuum to help boost the brake performance so make sure that hose is connected sometimes critters are attracted to new rubber

Re: Brake Problem

hello ederson you'll get better responses on the chevy forum but it
sounds like a worped drum/rotor. have you had them machined??
if you feel it in the pedal usually its the rear through the steering
wheel means the front. good luck!!

Re: Brake Problem

Had the same issue happen 3 times so far. The brake pads also seem to wear down rather quickly, and they weren't the cheap ones!
