I finally challenged myself this weekend. After taking nice long sweeping turns in northern cali with my buddies we decided to take it up a notch and hit up a super hard canyon road called Telegraph Canyon Road/ Otay Lakes Road. I loved every second of it. We actually used all of the surface area of my tires, scraped the pegs a little bit, and was able to use our instinct purely for once. Now I understand why people ride so far for this road. SOCAL/MEXICO is a great riding spot for anyone looking for good streetriding. Does anyone have some helpful hints/tips for canyon riding?

I didn't know you were in San Diego, shoot brother I'm just up the coast in Long Beach.

Got nearly 500 miles on the TriHump, scheduled my first service for Saturday the 18th, we'll have to go riding sometime.

Where exactly is this road? I see a telegraph road in San Diego area.. is that where you were at?

You hit telegraph road from San Diego. Then from there there is a small road that you turn right on that goes straight into the canyon. It's more toward Lemon Grove, CA. Pretty tight little spot man. I'll PM you sometime whenever I my military stuff calms down a little bit and we can meet up. By that time you should be confident on the TriHump and be able to be confident on the hairpins. They're brutal! I think the road that I actually am on is called Otay Lakes Rd. or something. Really beautiful scenery too.

I definately have a learning curve for this bike, my previous bikes I took to them like a Fish to water. But this thing is a whole different beast. Plus the suspension needs to be dialed in for somebody who weighs as little as I do. The factory setting is too stiff and I have troubles in the corners, bike doesn't want to turn... feels like it wants to push the front end out on me.

This past saturday I was cruising very slowly on the twisty road I was on, I couldn't go any faster because of the suspension being all goofy. It should be pretty much broke in by now for me to set the sag on it, just have to find the time!

Yeah bro I had to mess with my suspension a little bit before I felt grounded. I have a field excercise for two weeks coming up so I'll holler at you after that. I just bought a power commander so that'll be my little project to work on while you work on the suspension. I like to run through the road at 1/2 speed and then turn around at this little gas station and run it hard on the way back so that you kind of get a rhythm going. Brake in, gas out. Smooth is fast, fast is smooth. It's amazing how true that is. How far is LB from SD anyways?

It's 108 miles from LB to Sea World in SD, I've driven it a few hundred times... I know it well.

I never went into the park, I only worked in the Marina they have around back. Old job, I don't make that trip anymore. But I used to make that trip once a week, for about 4 years straight. Lots of highway time in an old beat up van.... down by the river.
