removing wheel wells 87 Caprice
I've got the motor out of my caprice and everything else hanging around the firewall and wheel wells except the heat/ac box and brake booster.
Can I easily remove both wheel wells? The bolts all seem to be accesible but I don't want to run into any problems like not being able to pull them out once I've got it all unbolted. I want to strip them down and repaint. The battery side has some rust under wear the battery tray was (the only rust on this car thankfully). Since I've got the motor out I'm wanting to get everything nice and new under there, without having to take off the front clip or the fenders. Thanks. |

If you want them to look new, see if you can find someone who can powdercoat them. This will give you the most durable finish for the engine bay, plus they will look good for a long time. You will have to completely devoid them of all paint and anything else beforehand, though. This usually involves media blasting (sand, soda etc). Don't forget to undercoat them once you reinstall them.

Re: removing wheel wells 87 Caprice
Thanks for the info, I'm gunna take a go at it later this week then. It'll be nice to be able to get at more of the frame too. I've seen the wheel wells chromed but that's too flashy for my tastes, I'll stick with getting them powdercoated.
