1994 Audi 100S tranny problem

i have a 1994 Audi 100S , had the tranny filter and fluid changed. now it leaks and smokes so bad you can't even see the car. So it's sitting in my garage until I can find a reliable mechanic to work on it. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be ?

If there is a chance that the transmission is actually overheating (cooler problem?) and there is a fail-safe mode it goes into under those conditions that keeps it in first gear, or if there is actually something sticking that keeps it from shifting when it gets very hot.

I am agree to it~

Actually not first but 2nd gear is the failsafe position. Could be either the transmission computer or one of the 4 electric solenoids internal to the tranny. Best bet is to find someone with a VAG unit to diagnose transmission. You may have noticed that there is no transmission dipstick and that's because fluid temperature and level are shown on the VAG unit. Transmission can only accurately be diagnosed through the VAG unit.
