96 Windstar starter grrrrrrrr

First off Hello

My wifes starter took a number 2 today so I had it towed to buddies house ( concrete slab is good for ramps ) and had the flat bed driver roll it off right onto the ramps ( yay no pushin ) well get underneath the beast and find the lower starter mount bolt no problem but from there big problems.... help I can not find any other mounting hardware . ohh and yes the battery was disconnected before hand and the work area around starter was wiped down to get rid of road grime that may have hidden any bolt heads or nuts van sits with all electrical starter connections removed. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.. and yes i did a forum search first and did not see any previous wisdom shed on this subject...

One thing I have not had to replace yet. There is however according to Haynes one bolt and one nut attached to the bellhousing. Make sure you disconnect the wires so its not dangeling once you get it out. From the picture it looks as though there is a bracket at the end of the starter and the nut is attached to a stud through a hole in the bracket.

Looks like I have removed the proper hardware to release the offending starter. although it is a lil stiffly seated at the moment I will get a lil rough with it I guess .... Just so used to the GM's droppin the darn things on my head right after i get the last thread of the las bolt out. Again Thank you ever so much 96wWindstar180...

runaround Mission success the starter is in! Thank You so much for the help/information 96wWindstar180k .... to add to your earlier post on the subject about the post with a nut on it that is holding the bracket... there is also a heavy gage plastic coated grounding cable on said post to further identify the nut and post that needs removed to remove the starter also same said post is threaded the full length and has what appears to be a second nut threaded on the post that marries right up to a transmission dog eared bolt hole that goes to the top starter mounting point you will need a 13mm deep socket to get the bugger. Another identifier to confirm that you are wrenching on the right post is the 16mm nut that holds said bracket and grounding cable on (it should be the first nut you have to remove in the process). A light word of caution be slighty carefull when going to remove the bracket after you have removed the 16mm nut there is a 10mm nut face the front of the engine compartment (pointing at the radiator) that needs to be removed it connects a plastic clip to the metal portion of the vehicals transmission fluid cooler lines which are metal at the transmission body connection and convert to rubber halfway to the radiator. After removeing this nut you have to kinda slightly muscle the bracket assembly to get the post the 10mm nut goes on to slip past the back side of the plastic clip and get the bracket clear so you can remove the grounding cable, and then start wrenching on the post nut with the 13mm deep socket..... wow that was a little long winded, but wanted to make sure no one else made a costly error by bending/crimping a transmission line or snapping a transmission dog ear cause they thought a pry bar was called for to break loose the old starter.... you know you will have done it right when the starter just slides off into your hand, that easy....
