Weapon R Secret Weapon
What do you guys think about it? Its pretty much the only aftermarket intake system i've found for the 95 grand am. I think it's a short ram style, and I'd prefer a cold air intake but I haven't been able to find a good cold air intake designed specifically for the 95 grand am.

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
Weapon R's are expensive, but as you said thiers not alot of options for your 95.
Isn't thier a hole in the drivers inner fender ? Between the battery and strut tower ... ? If so then, any Cai should work. Should be able to find them on Ebay too for pretty cheap.

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
Not sure how long they have been around. Probly 5 years or more, though mostly for imports. Like the AEM & Dr Speed Cai, they are all over priced pieces of pipe

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
if the shoe fits, id say get it... theres not much you can work with it being a 95... try to search ebay for cold air intakes for your grand am, you might get lucky.
We also have a performance section with additional links. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=502706 You can go through the sites if you'd like. =) Hope this helps, happy searching.

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
did anyone else go to the site i posted and notice that the pipe that had the weapon r secret weapon filter on it had a higher airflow than just the open pipe unfiltered? i just thought that was some really good engineering work and it sounds like its worth the money

Chromeintakes on ebay might have an application for your car, those are fairly cheap and effective

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
ok so I went all out and I bought the intake. Its a short ram, but it came with a ram air hose. In order to use the ram air hose i have to rotate the intake duct so the filter actually faces the front of the car, but the battery is in the way. How hard would it be to move the battery back about a foot or so, where the factory air box is/was? Also where would the best place to mount the ram air hose be? If i mount it in front of the radiator or somewhere near the front bumber would I have to worry about rain traveling up the hose and into my intake? I really don't want that to happen.

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
Oh your filter will probly get wet no matter where you put it.
Its not to hard to move the battery, you'll need to mount the batter tray somewhere, somehow. Might be more trouble then its worth .... ![]() What engine do you have, since you didnt post it before ??

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
umm... I doubt it'd even really matter much using the duct hose.... to bring in cooler air... if its a short ram then thats prob what its going to mostly function as...
Like XI mentioned, Its prob not worth the hassle to re-locate the battery

Re: Weapon R Secret Weapon
I've got a 1995 GA GT with a 3.1L V6. I don't think i'll be able to move the battery after all because I don't think there is enough room. The spot where the air box was is a little higher up than where the battery currently is. I installed the new intake today and it looks nice and it feels a little faster on the throttle. I also notice a big difference on acceleration. After I open the hood after its been running a little while if I put my hand by the filter its not really sucking in hot hot engine bay air its moderately cool over in the corner by the battery.
