Electrical Mystery
I have a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder which has no high beams and only 1 working headlight. I had electrical problems with the headlights on a previously owned 1990 Pathfinder as well. Can't seem to locate the problem. Anybody have similar problems?

Re: Electrical Mystery
I have a 1992 nissan pathfinder w/ halogen bulbs (not sealed beam) headlights. I'm not sure when it happened, but when I have low beams on, the left side only comes on. When on high beam, only the right side comes on. In addition, my gas guage seems to come on and off when my lights are on.
I tried replacing the bulbs and still cannot get my lights to work. Has anyone out there had or heard of this problem? I need to get my inspection done, and cant because I cannot get both lights to come on at the same time. |

Re: Electrical Mystery
This nissan cars have a problem with the lights. There are no problems with the bulbs, headlights or cables. The problem is in the swith. You can replace the headlights with new ones, but still, they are not going to work, 'cause the problem is in the switch where you start the lights.
If you have a friend with other Pathfinder, and his lights are working, try to change the switch for a test, and I'm almost 100% that it will be the problem. |

Had the same prob on my '92 although my wife's 95 is good. I am a cheapskate by nature so after I had tracked it down to the switch(which showed evidence of a lot of arcing/burning), I cleaned the contacts & put it back together. Been running ok for the last 18 mths....

YEAH, ITS ALL IN SWITCH!*(where you turn the headlight on).. I have took the switch out of undereth steer, and i have cleaned the switch where there is a copper look alike, its got 6 bars on it. and i put it back on, all of them works afterwards..(thats if you want to save money) but Rather buy new switch, it would be lot faster. alls you got to do is unplug the old one and plug the new one in and turn it on and drive away at nights!! Good Luck...
