Bought this used 1993 Camry.. everything working fine..
Yesterday, a light came on the dash.. left of the sterring wheel. It's a symbol of a car with what appears as the back lights on... I've check the brake lights, tail lights, back up lights, turn signals, hi and lo beam headlights.. everything works.. Whats this dash light for? Thanks |

Re: Light on the instrument panel is????
It means that one of your lights is out. If it is showing the rear lights on the car, it means one of the rear lights is out. Did you check the high mounted brake light and also the second light for the lights that use dual filament bulbs? Many times people forget those. If you have checked out all the bulbs and the problem still exists, then you may have a problem with one of the sockets or the wiring to the rear lights. Check the sockets for corrosion and also for power with a simple 12 volt test light or a volt/ohmeter. If they are clean and there is no power getting to one of them, then your problem is most likely in the loom of wires inside the trunk, by the driver's side trunk hinge. Open up that loom of wires and look for frayed or broken wires. Repair as necessary. That loom of wires is constantly being subjected to a lot of flexing from all the opening and closing of the trunk lid. Eventually this breaks or freys some of the wires.

did you check the licence plate light? Thats one many people don't even know is there, so they don't know when it goes out.
