Electrical Issues

So i've been havin some electrical problems, i think. first off my radio... pretty often lately it seems my front speakers cut out and i thought it was the speakers themselves, but i checked them and they are fine but every once in awhile its like all the bass out of all the speakers go out and the rear speakers are running on just treble and gets really quiet. idk its kind of hard to explain. at first i thought maybe it was my amp but the amp is unplugged and did it even when it was plugged in so it rules that out. now im thinking maybe its the head unit??
secondly, over the past couple of weeks my stock alarm system will just cut on and off randomly. it did it twice within 5 mins yesterday. if i leave my doors unlocked it doesnt do it. but if the doors are locked, whether security is engaged or not, it goes on and off intermittently. sometimes it stops by itself, sometimes it doesnt stop until i go out and put my key in the door and unlock it. also, the only way i can get my security system to engage is if i have the passenger door open when i lock my doors. every once in awhile it will do it without the passenger door open first.
thirdly, my headlights. at night, when my lights are on and i cut my car off, take the key out of the ignition and open my door, the headlights are supposed to cut off. well lately, it doesnt do it. and the lights will stay on. the interior lights only come on sometimes when the doors are open, sometimes they dont.
soooo, the other stuff i can deal with but this alarm stuff is really starting to piss me off.
any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Re: Electrical Issues

I'd just unhook the alarm, i think the factory alarm is junk anywho. As for the interior lights, im sure its a bad connection to the switches in the doors, on mine the drivers side wont turn the lights on, but the oassenger side will, and if i sit there and fiddle around with it, it'll start to work, i need to re wire it, im just lazy. The headlight thing is kinda a mystery. do you have stock speakers and head unit, or aftermarket?

its all stock. and though some people may just use the easy route and unhook the alarm, i could have easily thought of that myself. i want it fixed not put off.

Re: Electrical Issues

well, in that case, this could be a good oppurtunity to upgrade to a better alarm? on the speakers, does it seem like the balance and the fade are constantly changing?

Re: Electrical Issues

for the alarm, that just sucks. when alarms act up, you're always SOL. there have been soo many problems with the stock alarm, that its probably worth getting an aftermarket one. i would try to disable it for the meantime so you can lock your car without the possibility of it randomly going off. that, or simply disconnect the siren.

for the speakers, do you have the stock stereo? stock speakers?

as for the headlights staying on after door is open, troubleshoot the ETACS (electronic timing and control system). your dome light comes on, so it working partially. maybe a relay in the system is sticking that would otherwise turn the headlights off. really not sure.

hopefully Stealthee will respond.

again, yes its all stock. Though the balance doesnt really change much more the fade i suppose. guess ill just not worry about the alarm since i wanted to get remote start and alarm anyways. i guess i was just hoping it would be a quick fix until i actually shell out about 200 bucks to do what i want. oh well

btw where is the ETACS located? vector can u check it in two weeks?

LMAO.

For the headlights the door switch is actually a "double switch" I have had instances where the dome light came on when the door was opened but the headlights stayed on. I just reached down and wiggled the switch and voila, headlights go off. The door switch gets dirty and needs the contacts cleaned sometimes. That could be a reaon why the alrm wants to go off.

Re: Electrical Issues

if the driver door is locked and closed while the passenger door is still open...then your alarm is gonna tweak out and start going off by itself, you may leave and a half hour later you alarm will be going off
make sure the passenger door is closed first, then lock your door and close it, and you shouldnt have the problem anymore

i never said the driver door was locked and closed first, both doors are open and unlocked then i lock them and shut the doors.

Re: Electrical Issues

so every time you lock the doors and close them, the passenger door is closed first or never opened at all?

Re: Electrical Issues

reason i'm saying that is because my car does the same thing
but i figured out it only does that when i locked the doors and shut my door before the passenger door was closed

the alarm then starts tweaking out
