442/455 EVAP codes: 2000 Stratus
To make a long story short;
It started out as a 442 code. Gas cap replaced, no change. Mechanic dropped tank, replaced the LDP and after a week (to reset the monitor) the code changed into a 455. Dealer said it's usually the LDP, not the canister or valve (?). The vehicle hasn't been back yet for another look. How common are the other components (other than hoses/clamps)?

Talk to a 2nd dealer just to be sure. As I understand it, thee codes are supposed to help narrow down the issue. Not say something it "usually" is. Then again, I'm not the car designer so I don't know for sure.

With my '97, I was receiving EVAP codes and it turned out to be the o-ring/gasket for the fuel pump.

Re: 442/455 EVAP codes: 2000 Stratus
It now appears to be the filler neck. The top, below the gas cap flange (for lack of the proper term) has rusted through. There was some type of tape on the pipe traping in moisture, I'm told.
