What's wrong????

My 2000 windstar's check engine light came on and it started idling hard but only when in park or stopped at a light. It feels like it's going to stall, but it doesn't. Any ideas???

Well first I would start by checking the trubble codes stored in the computer. Most parts stores like Autozone, or advanced autoparts will check codes for you for free. Make sure you write down the code number, not just what the guy thinks the problem is.

Re: What's wrong????

We had this same thing happen on our 2001 Windstar and we cleaned the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) and it stopped.

Re: What's wrong????

When mine had similar symptoms it turned to out to be that the Fuel Pressure Regulator vaccum hose had come undone at the Plenum as it was saturated with oil blowby from the PCV Valve and not making a good seal.
I guess due to vibrations at high RPM (Low Vaccum).

After fixing the Isolator Bolts and related parts, it has not happened again...!
