Question b18c1 swap questions

Well after i wrote this once and the server pulled that too busy bull crap im not gonna write as much as i did last time, also keep in mind ive never been around motor swaps or known anyone thats done one:

Anyway, ive got a stock (aem intake) 99 civic si and of course i wanna deck it out, mostly performancewise, so im always looking for a deal cause im stuck with 2 car payments right now. Well i found another 99 civic si for sale near my house. Its got a lot of shit; 17" racing hart c5, lowered, apexi exhaust, aem intake (doesnt fit), clutchmaster flywheel, clutchmaster stage 3 clutch, and a b18c1 in it. well anyway, i took it for a spin today (omfg... it grabs in 4th) and i loved it. anyway, the guy got a dui and hasnt hardly driven for the last year but now since he got his license back he cant afford the insurance on it so hes selling at a great price (i think, any thoughts?) of $15000. the car has 42000 miles and the motor has about 60000 according to him. He told me the motor came from some old lady's car that got hit in the front end. when he got the motor the crank was broken (he thinks from the wreck, replaced) and the casing around a sensor on the throttlebody was cracked which is causing the check engine light to come on. im not sure which sensor it is cause i didnt think to look but would this cause the car not to go into vtec? Or could it be because hes still running the ecu from the b16? If it is causing it would i have to replace the throttlebody and if so, do i go with a oem replacement or an aftermarket, and if so which company? Also, what should i look for on the motor or car to make sure the swap was done right (motor did say b18c1 on it) or could i just trust the acura dealer (im done with the honda dealer, the one by me is full of idiots) to tell me if the swap was right? Now should i also be concerned with reliability on swaps like this? i know honda makes great engines but i have no idea. like i said i have no experience with swaps but when i drove it, holy shit. its got so much torque!!! between 4-5500 rpm it pulls almost as hard as my stock b16 in vtec. i loved it. Also, if i buy a Skunk2 intake manifold would i be able to use the aem intake (civic si model) without modifing it? and how much of a difference would a b18 ecu make on the car? And should it be really really firm feeling when i shift and should the clutch pedal pop back out so fast that it almost presses against my foot?

Thanks in advance guys. I appreciate any constructive critisism or anything that could help me in making the right decision, and if i ultimatly decide to go with getting the car what parts i should use to get it working right.

-Chris

I would never buy someone else's hybrid. You just don't know what was done or repaired prior. Save yourself a lot of headaches and do things yourself.

I agree with RockChalk....

Find a Si thats stock....Not that hard..just wait a little and search....I've seen them......They are prey to my eye...(just like stock 92-95 si's to me)

They are untampered eye candy...You just picture what you will do...Not what someone else Did.

My si plan: (only if I part with my hatch)

I would change to a b18c1......Then put a Greddy Turbo kit....do some tuning with cam gears..pulleys..ignition...Don't forget to upgrade the fuel system..port and polish..

(thats what I did to my hatch plus NOS and much much more)

And you can have a real monster......And don't go 17's if you want performance...15's or 16's...More tire means more traction for handling...

Sorry for babbling on.........

dont buy someone elses junk....buy a stock vehicle and work from there....ive done that with both my cars.. of course the hatch is still stock..but the accord is done well and just right....not much halfassing.

anyway..the point is...if you dont know what your gettin into....dont buy.....learn b4 you buy something that could possibly be expensive to repair.

a car with a swap is a good thing..but only if you know the owner well..and know what all hes done and where he has had it done at.

it sounds to me like the si is junk...better tell him to fix b4 you buy. best of luck
