i have a 98 dx with 94k miles on it...when i first got it with 88k miles on it 4 months ago the first and 2nd gear kinda made a weird grinding sound...i took it to a dealer and they said i needed it to be rebuilt...so i drove it for about 4-5k more miles and the grinding quit...and it sounds and drives fine now > buhahaha yea ill probly do a swap pretty soon or get me a new tranny or somethin but i dunno it hink its weird how it just quit making the noise. maybe hitting bambie threw something into place? instead of the 1800 in damages

someone on here told me that tranny was making grinding noises then he got some redline or lucas tranny fluid then after the grinding stopped

also you could always use yoru 2nd gear but you would need to double clutch

i think we dont have the same idea of double clutching, i thought it could only be done while downshifting, can you explain it to me?

double clutching is for unsynchroed trannys. like tranny made in the 50s or possible earlier, the trannys didnt have synchros so they had to double clutch. but every new tranny has synchros so theres no reason to worry about it unless a synchro goes out. the only reason you would need to double clutch is if a synchro is going out in your tranny.

oh ive heard semis need to double clutch too.

can you describe how to do it, every explanation i've see is about how to downshift and double clutch but none about shifting up, my problem is i go clutch, first gear, clutch out, gas, clutch in, second gear, clutch out, GGGRRRIIIINNNNDDDD!!!!

double clutching is say yoru in first gear, first gear, clutch in, shift to neutral, clutch out in neutral, clutch in, shift to second gear, clutch out

thats double clutching, try that, your tranny wont grind. because if you shift from 1st to 2nd gear you use your synchro, if you shift from 1st to 3rd gear you use your synchros. but if you go from neutral to any gear, you are not using your synchros so no grinding.

still grinds, everyone has told me it's syncros except one mechanic who said there are some kind of plastic V's in the tranny and that's probably whats wrong, the problem isn't that my car comes out of 2nd gear, its that it doesn't go all the way in
