Head Gasket
Alright my head gasket is blown on my 95' metro 3cylinder (miles on the car is around 184,500 and its leaking oil outside the block and also into the one of the cylinder's.(spelling lol) I ended up going to get it priced for it to be fixed and they wanted 812.09 somthing around there and i found that they prolly just wanted money who knowns. Is there anything i could add to my oil to stop the leak for good? Whats the cost for a 3 cylinder rebuild? I did safe though when i bought the car for a 1$ lol. PLEASE HELP ME I NEED THIS CAR TO LAST A WHILE SO I CAN GET TO SCHOOL.

Unless you want to do it yourself, try a few other shops. Replacing the head gasket is a very easy job. It's also the perfect time to have the valves done and replace the timing belt.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can put in the oil that will stop the leak. Q

In Spokane, WA, I paid $225 to have the Head rebuilt - I took it off and put it
back on. A dog with five fingers could do it! Easy as pie. The Head Rebuild shop asked if I wanted him to buy a Gasket Kit - added around $50 to the price (saved $50 over me buying the kit) and I used the gaskets to put the head and manifolds back on. You might want to drop the oil pan and unbolt the poston rod bearing caps, ream the tops of the cylinders, push the pistons out and replace the rings like I did - you'll have essentiall a new engine! Add $150 parts etc for the later.....about $50 rings, about $40 Rod Bearings, about $30 new Head Bolts (recommended), about $25 cylinder reamer rental, then buying some extras like cylinder honer & odd tools (ring compressor) etc. Search DoctorBill to find my Threads on rebuilding the engine (all with many photographs as I went along). This 'might' get you started - lot of blather to wade thru - I talk a lot... It was scary (my first time...) but lots of fun, too. My '93 runs like a top now and gives 49 mpg and has much power. The oil hardly turns dark at 3,000 miles! DoctorBill
