98 Civic Keyless Entry - pwr locks problem

1998 Civic EX, factory keyless entry, factory radio still installed and working.

Keyless entry does not work, replaced battery in remote, still no work.

Additionally, the power locks do not work when driver door is closed, when the door is open, pwr locks work most of the time, they will lock all but drivers door unless handle is pulled out.

Also, cruise control does not work.

Checked fuse for keyless / cruise, its good, replaced with tested good fuse anyway, still no work.

Ideas?

Power lock on the driver door will not work with a door open. It will lock and unlock. It's honda's safty feature...so you won't lock your keys inside your car. Supposedly you need to lock your car from outside. If you car locks from outside with a key through power lock then your powerlocks are fine. You probably need to reprogram your remote. That's all. There should be reference how to do it in your owner's manual. Though, you need to take some cars to dealer to program remotes.

Best of luck.

Re: 98 Civic Keyless Entry - pwr locks problem

I should be so lucky.

Tried reprogramming the remotes but still no change.

It has degenerated a bit since my first post, now, I can't use the power locks except when the door is in the motion of opening, either lock or unlock.

BTW, you can lock the doors ussually with the power locks on the door, you just have to pull out of the door hangle while you do this to bypass the "don't lock your keys in the car" feature.

Its looking alot like a broken wire from the car to the door is just making contact sometimes.
