4.3L Towing Question

I have a 88' 1500 with the 4.3L V6 and a 3speed. I use it as a daily driver now seeing my other truck is in need of some work. Problem is my folks are moving and I need to get the dime truck out of the street very soon.

My friend's dad has offered to let me use his 2 axle trailer to put the truck on, so that's not my qualm.

I'm a little worried about towing a 3000lb truck on a 1000lb trailer with this dinky little drivetrain, but seeing how I have NO other options and he lives only 20 miles away (I'm leaving the truck there till I can get a storage unit lined up) i'm going to give a it a go.

My questions are;
I know the 4.3 is NOT really a preferrable option to tow that much weight but what should my etiquette be when hauling it, the largest trailer I've ever driven was a single axle with some furniture on it.

The bumper is rated for 4000lbs, and I have a 6000lb ball hitch on it at the moment, i'm a little worried the trailer is going to rip the poor thing right off. Is this a superfluous concern?

Anything else I should be concerned with?
