Electronics type box under the console

I have a 1993 GMC Jimmy 4x4 auto, 4.3l

When I removed the console recently, I found a plastic box under the console with wires leading into it from underneath the carpeting. The box has the "TRW" logo on it. Has anyone else seen this? Is this from the factory? If so, what does it do or control?

Re: Electronics type box under the console

Thanks for your reply, but I wish that was the answer. This vehicle does not have air bags. The box in question is under the console between the two front seats. ????

Or is it possible that airbags were optional and the vehicles were pre-wired for air bags even if they did not have them?

Re: Electronics type box under the console

It seems as if this box that I was referring to above is the body control module. It is made by TRW and it has an FCC ID. Does that make sense to anyone?

Also, does anyone know what the 15 pin connector and printed circuit board bolted underneath the ECM unit is? This one is made by Delco Electronics and has "CBN" on the lable.
