Question Name of Part???

I have a 99 Taurus with the Duratec engine. There is a rusted out part by my radiator on the passenger side that is now leaking out coolant. It is a bent metal pipe that has a rubber hose on both ends and it looks like they are permanently clamped on with a metal ring, as opposed to the other clamps on the car that can be disengaged by using pliers.

what exactly is this part called? I am at work and did not drive the vehicle today so I can't go to the dealer and point out the exact part. I haven't been to find the part online thru pictures even on OEM sites. None of the parts that i've found look even close to this part. Sorry to bug you with what is probably an easy question to everyone on here, but I'm clueless when it comes to this.

Re: Name of Part???

It's probably the heater tubes. Check a dealer. In the mean time. Cut out the rusted portions and slip a piece of heater hose over it and use clamps to hold it in place. You're sure it's coolant though?

Re: Name of Part???

When I don't know what a part is called I go to the parts store and bring one of the salespeople out and show them and ask them, "WHAASS DAT"?

I believe you're referring to what's called an ELBOW that takes coolant to the heater core. Should be easy to find and cheap. While you're at it flush the cooling system and replace the old anti freeze with new 60 water - 40% anti freeze. Don't dump the old coolant on the ground, it is toxic so catch it and dispose of it properly.

Look closely at your old pipe and if it appears to be badly corroded you need to get the coolant pH at the peoper level. We had a thread on that not long ago so run a search for it.
