Blower motor

While in Santa Fe today my fan motor started making all kinds of noise and would increase with the higher settings. Any help or advice on replacing it would be greatly appricatied, Andie

from your brief description, i'm thinking you mean the heater/AC blower?

it's pretty easy, remove the glove box and get a mirror and yoga stretch lessons and remove the 4 screws and connector and connector for the blower resistor screwed into the housing.

the real hard part is letting go of all that money....

but you might get lucky and find it's just a leaf or something in there.

here's the illustration from the isuzu online parts site www.myisuzuparts.com

Re: Blower motor

I sorry i should have been more supecfic, yes the the motor for the fan for the AC, heater, and such. Im sure its worn out and not leaves or trash. Noise sounds like a high pitched squell. Bearing? Is this a dealer only part or is it available at auto parts stores? And what is the correct name for it? Thanks Amigo and Trooper. Andie

Re: Blower motor

MOTOR ASM; FAN,BLOWER UNIT

8-97229-613-1

05-2002 and LATER

Thats the motor, gasket, and blower wheel all together. Probably costs a bit more for all of it but much easier then trying to get the blower wheel off the old one without breaking it.

With a quick search the cheapest I saw was from http://utahparts.com/ISPRICING.htm (huge page so give it time to load then search with the isuzu part number). They want $132, everyone else I've seen even after market want around $180-190.

Re: Blower motor

I was in Vegas this morning and hit all the auto parts stores, NAPA wanted more than my dealership, Checkers didnt supply them, Autozone could order one with lifetime warranty for $90, so I when with them. Should be in tomarrow afternoon. I did a quick look at it and seems easy to replace, well I hope so. Thanks everyone for your help. Andie

Re: Blower motor

Ok I got the new fan in, the old one was full of pine needles and pinon nuts, which probably caused the bearing? to burn out. It was only 4 screws and the electrical connector. The only problem was the positions I had to get in (Gizmo's fault) to get them out and in. Just glad no one was there to see me.... Thanks again Everyone. Andie

Re: Blower motor

I would have been fine if you hadnt mentioned the yoga stuff. It made me self-consence, well at least I was in jeans. Andie
