Brake lights

Hi I have a 1995 olds cutlass supreme and the brake lights are inop. Actually the outer lights are out but the 3rd brake light operates fine. I checked the fuse and its ok. Checked power out of brake light switch and its ok as well. Got wiring diagram and traced wire from brake light switch to turn signals as the brake lights run through this. I have power going into switch(turn signal) but nothing coming out. Removed airbag and steering wheel, replaced switch and reassembled. Still have no power out of turn signal switch to apply power to outer brake lights. What am I missing? Anyone have an issue like this? Seems simple enough but yet there is something I am overlooking. Please help. Thanks. Oh and the part was OEM.

Re: Brake lights

Welcome to AF.

DId you check all of the fuses related to the brake lights/turn signals ???
I know thiers more then 1.

Did you test for power at the rear, on the light housing wires ???

Sounds dumb, but did you check the bulbs ??
What about the bulb sockets ?

If those check out OK, look for the ground wire thats attached in the truck somewhere.... not sure exactly where but if its not makin contact they may not work either.
