2002 Durango going beserk! the truck and me

Hi, I have a 2002 Durango. While driving home today the horn beeped and the front and rear wipers actuated one time. 5 minutes later it repeated. In the following five minutes I had the horn blowing, the wipers going, the dash flashing, brights coming on and off. I looked like a goof driving down the road. The car runs fine. Well needless to say I had to pull over. I shut the key off. I still heard lots of activity under the dash. Clicking noises every where. When the key is off I have no power locks or head lights. The electric mirrors seem to be the only thing that works. And the car still starts. Just that everything is still going off. Any ideas? I called a friend and he mentioned the dash cluster may be going bad. I have no idea. Unless there is something fairly simple this baby is getting towed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS I did try cylcing the key several times. No help. also my battery seems fine. The green light is on anyway

MIGHT be a ground related flake out - make sure the ground terminal and ground locations are clean....could also be CTM? (black box in drivers side kick panel) ....Dodge electricals are absolutely horrid - good luck

Re: 2002 Durango going beserk! the truck and me

Thanks for the responses. ok here's the update. When the trouble started I had to leave the Durango at my friends house. I went to get it yesterday. My plan was to remove a couple of fuses so I could drive it home without the horn blowing and the wipers moving. Low and behold, I started it up and nothing in going crazy. One thing is new, sounds like the seat belt chime, it won't turn off. I talked to a friend that works at a Chrysler dealership. He is 99% sure the CTM is bad. He is bringing a new one home tomorrow. We will install the new one. If the chiming noise goes away I will hope the new one fixed the problem. He said just because everything stopped working on their own doesnt mean the problem is fixed. Hmmmm. go figure. Oh ya, they cost $224 brand new. With my buddies discount it's going to be around $150

Thanks again for the responses,
Scott
