need a transmission pan
hopefully a simple question. I know jack squat about transmissions except that my pan is badly rusted and leaking. I know my transmission is a 46RE, I can find some good deals on a 727 pan, but im not sure if it would fit. It looks the same. so whats the difference?

Re: need a transmission pan
727 has same bolt pattern. But is not deep enough for the added valvebody thickness in your transmission... Sorry, won't fly.

Re: need a transmission pan
what if the 727 pan were a deep pan approx. 2 inches deeper than a regular 727?

Re: need a transmission pan
Thats cutting it pretty close.
If you used a transmission filter from a '89-'96 unit, you would have better luck. Because the filter is thinner. Though, then you have to find the correct bolt length for the added hole on the early filter ![]() Then you still need to measure to make sure the filter isn't squished against the pan. Or you might not get enough volume of fluid for proper operation. |
