91 Olds 88 Blower motor/resistor Question

I have a 91 Olds 88 and every manual i have read is telling me that my blower motor resistor is in my enging compartment attached to my blower motor. Every picture is the same, it shows 4 wires going to it. Well mine has only 2, a purple and blue wire. Nothing more. I returned the resistor b/c when i put power directly to the fan it didn't do anything. My questions are; why do I have 2 wires and not 4? Why is every manual internet autozone telling me that that is where my resistor should be. If it isnt there where the hell is it? this not having air thing in 88-95 degree weather blows. Yes my air works and blows cold. Well, did anyways.

Re: 91 Olds 88 Blower motor/resistor Question

it is not attached to the blower motor- the resitor is in the HVAC case held in by two 7mm screws- the purple wire runs from it to the blower motor- trace the purple wire backwards to the resistor-- now what are your symptoms? no high speed blower? no low speeds on blower? or no blower at all? do not forget that tthe ground wire is as important as any other-- did you put 12 volts to the blower at the same time you provided it a good ground? Most blower fail by being intermittent- does yours come on when you tap on it? if so it has a dead spot and needs replaced.........

Re: 91 Olds 88 Blower motor/resistor Question

I have absolutely no blower at all, not slow fast or intermittent. I tested the motor straight from the battery making sure to clean off the terminals. I will test the resistor with a ohm meter and see if thats ok as well.

Thanks
Phill
