help me... Door locks on 88 gmc

My electric locks on my 88 GMC c/k1500 1/2ton 5.0 2wd truck stopped working on both doors and I was wondering how do I go about fixing them? The buttons on the doors still press in but nothing happens

Re: help me... Door locks on 88 gmc

I don't know how the weather is where you are, but I do know that excessive heat can have a negative effect on electric window motors and sometimes it can also affect electric door locks. Also, age can have a very serious effect on wiring. I suggest that you remove the door panel on the driver's side and inspect the wiring. It wouldn't hurt to have a meter of some sort to check continuity of the circuits. If you are not confident removing the door panel, your local auto parts store should have a book (Chilton or Haynes) that will explain the best way to remove the door panel. It should also have detailed information regarding the door locks. I believe there is a special tool that is used to pry the door panel from the door. Of course, you can do it with a screw driver if you're careful. Good luck.
