|
hub bearing keeps making noise
i have a 99 taurus with 3.0 i replaced 4 hub bearings on drivers front the last one new 3 junkyard hubs one came off car that i heard run i put on car and the inside of hub snaps and when u turn right the car locks up slightly like ur pressing the brake can someone please help im tired of replacing hub bearings on this car

Are you using an air impact wrench to remove and reinstall the axle nut? That can destroy a wheel bearing. Hand tools only!

yes i used hand tools and didnt torque them hard i used only little torque on axle nut is it possible the axle is defective or control arm bent

Well, that may be part of your problem. The factory spec on torque for the axle nut is 170-203 ft/lbs. That's a LOT of torque. My only caution was not to use impact tools.
If the axel isn't properly torqued to the hub, you will get a lot of noise. You need a pretty big torque wrench to reach up that far--one with a long handle for leverage.

i appreciate all the help i have done plenty of hubs on taurus,s this one car has me bogglede in three weeks the hub snaps i dont know were to go from here
i dont know were to go from here besides replace hub again then axle is this right choice |
