Question 96 Taurus Engine Replacement

Hey guys, I'm thinking of replacing my 1996 Ford Taurus GL's Current 3.0L V6 Vulcan out with a 3.0L Duratec 30.

1. Anyone know where I could get one New or with low mileage.
2. Anything I should know about clearances and ETC.
3. Tips?

Heres where I found one, tell me if this looks worth its $1000 USD.

You'd be $$ and aspirin ahead to swap the vehicle for one set up the way you want. Only way I would do what you are proposing is if I had the whole other vehicle sitting beside yours so you would have all the necessary parts to make the change.

I agree with Willyum. Seen a lot of these engine swap projects that never get completed and the person ends up selling the project cheap just to get away from it.

If you are adament that you really want to tackle the projects along with the headaches, you may be able to find someone who started the same project you want to and now wants to get out from it selling the items cheaply!

Re: 96 Taurus Engine Replacement

I'll chime in too, it's a recipe for disaster. These two engines share only one common denominator, they're both 3.0 .... remember you have all the emission controls to set up, can your current pcm handle it??? Doubtful.. Taurus prices have been dropping, a little research you should be able to find what you want all in one package, if you do, act quickly, Taurus is a good seller in spite of itself..

Re: 96 Taurus Engine Replacement

Thanks guys thats all i needed. Well, My taurus is doing fine, I guess i'll just slowly upgrade the OHV V6 Vulcan in it. Anyone know where and if I can get Aftermarket parts that will fit it with little or no modification? I mean, to put a cold air on it, i'm willing to do some modification to the engine bay.
