Clean look

Hey im thinking about getting either a honda accord 2door or an acura tsx and im wondering, typically, what is the best way to make the car unique in terms of preformance, look ex. with aftermarket stuff. I dont want the "riceburner" look just something clean that turns some heads but i wont hate in 5 years im im doing job interviews more searious than the local golf club, you know.

anyways
CAI- good idea
Exaust - if i do it any suggestions for the cars that are better sounding than stock but again something that im going to find myself hatting
body kit?- may do it but anything that looks great but something that im going to be able to make speed bumps and railroad tracks (have to deal with going to school)

what kind of money am i looking at??

Anything else that will give it a clean fresh look that is not too the extreem

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Clean look

how about you dont spend the money on a body kit at all..thats the cleanest youll find..nothin wrong with the jap style..then either get some aftermarket wheels either honda/acura premiums or whatever you want. do some tint on the windows..most ppl start modifying theyre car by usually adding an intake first then headers and exhaust..idk man its your car..but heres somethin to think about..theres always someone somewhere with a car like yours..its not gonna be a one of a kind without a crazy fab/paint job. so just look at some other cars and take the better ideas that they had and add them to your own..id say keep it pretty much stock. tsx's are already pretty sexy but i think theyre a little slow. accords will have a lot more aftermarket options..just dont go after the apc stuff at autozone lol

Re: Clean look

The aftermarket support is alot better for an accord vs a tsx. Thres a ton of stuff you can do to your car besides typical intake exhaust that can make it one of a kind and still clean. I personally wouldn't reccommend any body kits for the accord cause they take away from the factory look. I don't pur anything on my car that doesn't look like it could've come from the dealer that way. In the end its all up to what you think looks good and thats different for everybody. My suggestions:

CAI - for sound and gas mileage improvements

Lowering - Accords sit high and benefit greatly from a 1.5-2.5 in drop either by way of lowering springs or complete coilover set

Lights - heads and tails can be modded all kinds of ways. LEDs projectors, black housing, tinting, etc

Interior - a million things to change inside: fabric, lighting, guages, trim, electronics, sound system

Paint - repainting the car is costly but can make your car a head turner with a color set that matches the overall look of the car

Wheels - unlimited possibilities for wheels but 19 is the largest that should probably be on an accord, 18s look good, 17s also work. Stock wheels from acuras often look good on acords and you can powdercoat or paint the wheels to match the car also

Power - a world of options for adding power but it gets expensive quickly

Re: Clean look

yeah i know that the car is never going to be "one of a kind", if i do do a body kit, what is the diff between a body kit and ground effects (same thing?)

i would for sure not get the ones that touch the ground i just want ones that add an accent to the stock body, should i just go with the dealer installed option or is there a better one. o and if i buy it used like a 04 or 05 will the dealer still install the body kits they sell for the 07's, (same body i think)

i think i want to lower it a little, for the accord 1.5-2.5 inches ish, what about tsx and what kind of damage to the wallet am i looking at

i dont think i will repaint it loses value at resale

is the tsx really that underpowerd i read that it was a little suggish off the block but how slow do you know

and last thing, spoiler? small wing?

Re: Clean look

don't pay dealer prices for body mods unless you really really dig their designs. Ground effects kits and body kits are the same thing to me. Maybe there's some technical difference but I don't see any. You should probably look at the body kits thread stickied at the top of this forum.

Painting your car won't make it lose its value any faster than any other mods. Fact is, once you drive off the lot you lost the biggest chunk of value.

The tsx is underpowered when compared to other cars in its class (A4, C class, 3-series) because its really just a honda accord with an acura badge. Look at european accords of the same years and you'll see... we always get watered down everything over here.

And I've never been a fan of spoilers in general on hondas/acuras but thats your call. If you're going to get one I beg you not to get one that could substitute as a park bench

Re: Clean look

Yeah im thinking about for the spoiler something like this

or like this

and for the body

see how the body kit doesnt come that close to the ground, do you think that is a better look than the ones that go all the way to the ground
not those exactly and not in carbon or anything but those kind of styles and thats only if i decide to go with it

honestly for now i think at most for the car im just going to go with a cai, tint, and maby lower it some and see were it goes from there

and also what should i buy directly from the dealer, regardless of what car should i just get stock stereo, speakers, body, everything and figure stuff out aftermarket or what should i get from the dealer

Re: Clean look

The only thing anybody should ever buy from the dealer is the car and whatever they don't plan on changing. Hell, if you can get a tape deck instead of cd for cheaper then get it cause dealer upgrades are ridiculously priced

Re: Clean look

Neither one of those spoiler impresses me much honestly. That kit is fairly mild but still too flamboyant for my tastes. I'm more of a simple chin spoiler and rear lip kind of guy. Plus I always think its strange to see a car with a body kit and no rims.

If I had a toss up between accord and tsx I'd probably take the tsx and use the $2K for some nice wheels and the lips. Something like this minus the spoiler although this is one spoiler I could deal with

Re: Clean look

Body Kit Websites

The tsx is underpowered for the market it competes in but I'd take one over an accord which isn't a powerhouse either. Nissan has put the Accord to shame in factory power ratings since the 90s so if that was the only factor I'd be looking to Shift_something

Re: Clean look

As far as what I consider important, yes. Just weight the factors and see which comes out on top

Power: TSX
Looks: TSX
Aftermarket: Accord
Cost: Accord
Features/options: TSX

Re: Clean look

we have found a really nice accord
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=735107&goto=newpost\

we went to test drive it a couple times they want 19,995 for it (acceptable)

do you know of any low profile body kits or companies that make low profile stuff (everywhere i look is ony is 100% ricer-cant even get over a speed bumb stuff), like the pic of the tsx i want something like that for the accord. something to break up the round edges of the car

and my second question is the car is black on black on black everything black, what are your guy's veiws on how to add accents to the interior of the car, im looking for red accents, either leather inserts on the seats, dashboard accents of somesort, or interior dash lights being red.
i hope you can kinda visualize what im talking about and any help on how todo this would be helpfull, the only reason im asking is that i dont want to start another thread for it
