Exclamation My 96 3-cyl 1.0 died-FREE any takers?

After several years and miles of driving past gas stations with $3 / gallon gas, my 96 Geo Metro 3-cyl 1.0 hatchback clutch is gone. 2nd gear synchros went 3 years ago but used synthetic gear oil to baby it until now. It needs used transaxle and new clutch. Deciding what to do with it - free to anyone that will come and get it from Amity Oregon. You could drive it if you are good with driving cars that don't shift well. Twice on the way home from looking at replacement cars I stopped at traffic lights and it would not go into gear. Had to turn off engine, put into gear, start it and could drive and shift after. Got home and adjusted clutch cable but clutch is gone. I did a front crank seal and top end job last year. Engine runs great! Would keep it to have as 2nd car, but not sure I want to work on it. Call Five - oh - 3 ate 3 five - ate one oh nine leave message I'll call you back. Between jobs now, I'll be home days until new job. BTW got a great deal on a 2007 Kia Spectra today. Was purchased two days ago by a woman that didn't like it because it didn't have cruise control. Bought with 366 miles for thousands lower than sticker at dealership. I know, Geos rule, but they don't go forever. Mine had just past 140k miles. New paint job in 2003. Only had the usual small stuff go wrong - broken mirror mounts, headlight wire loose conn by left foot, replaced foggy headlights, fan switch, squeals if you start it with any electrical device on (that is the fix for sqeals after you replace alt belt, turn off everything before starting), service engine soon light (cut out cat converter and replaced w/straight pipe). Was in minor front end collision but replaced hood and driving lights, straightened out bent radiator frame and hood latch, replaced A/C with one from another car. 50 miles / gallon on highway!!! Beats highbrids on gas. Drove to S. California twice this year. Call if interested.

Tom,

A big thanks for the free car! Got it home without incident. Good luck with your new Kia and with your wife.
