95 Sunfire PRNDL indicator not working

I have a 1995 Sunfire SE with AT. The PRNDL indicator LED's in the instrument cluster is not working.

I have checked the transmission switch and it is OK. A Tech tool shows that the PCM is getting the signal to determine what gear it is in. I have replaced the PCM and still no indicator lights. I thought that maybe the PCM was getting the proper signal, but not sending it up the data line to the cluster.

I have also replaced the instrument cluster.

EVERYTHING checks out OK. Transmission switch, PCM, cluster....What am I missing?

Thanks,

HCII

I'm assuming you have a floor shifter, correct? If so, are you refering to the little indicators next to the shift handle? That or you have something I've never seen before.

Yes, it has the floor shifter. But...

There is an indicator built in to the instrument cluster at the top center. There are the letters P R N D L there, and above these letters is a set of LED's that light up above the correct indicator. The signal for this comes from the computer.

Please be careful! stay home. I'll be in Calgary on monday. them.

Re: 95 Sunfire PRNDL indicator not working

That's weird, I never look at my PRNDL indicator and somehow I still know when my car is in drive and when it's in park. Maybe I should sue GM as well. them.

?
