4 generation engine swaps
Which honda engines can be easily swapped into 90 accord lx with minimum hassle? Just same generation accord engines?

The H22 (Prelude) engine is by far the most common swap. 200 hp and VTEC in one package
Its really not worth it to swap a B series engine into the car because if you check out prices at http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/engines/index.html for instance, you'll see that the 200 HP H22 is SAME price as the 160 HP B16 engine. The GSR engine goes up to $2700 and you only get 170 HP. So its most economical to get the H22. Here is a "how-to" for the 4th Gen Accord H22 swap http://www.h22a.org/4gswap.htm |

That sounds like the way to go for performance, huh? Heard a lot about it, in the short time I have been researching.
What about engine swap for pure cost? Would not want to drop below factory horsepower. Would love to find an h22 lying around, but my car isn't worth as much as one of those motors I'm afraid. ![]() I have high mileage. Any like DOHC engines I could get cheap out of a wrecked car or something? I'm looking to buy a parts car for my 90 lx. Should I be looking only for 90 to 93 lx only, for best part compatibility? Looking at replacing map sensor, master cylinder, side mirror, almost 500 dollars worth at honda dealer! |

Well, engine swaps aren't for the low budget shopper...they tend to be expensive and of course the labor of puttinmmg themin will be $1000-2000...That's in addition to the cost of the engine of course...But I am pleased with my decision....even after all the bolt on parts I had for my accord, it just doesn't compare to the H22 VTEC...

For installation prices, you should check your local shop. If you live in Cali, its gonna be cheaper than Alaska simply because there are more people who do it in Cali and theres more competition thus you pay less.
Might wanna check around your town for an engine. Ya never know if theres a wrecked prelude lyin around. Its worth a shot especially since you're already looking to replace those other parts. *MOST* all 90-93 Accord parts are interchangable. Also, most all model trim parts are interchangable. You can put EX parts on an LX. |

Thanks for the info!
Saw a 4th generation car today. Like a clone of mine except it was a coupe. Maroone, looked really nice, was wishing I had a camera to post on this forum. Much nicer than mine, a 4 door, with clearcoat problems.
