1982 C10 P/u

We are installing a power steering system in the truck from a manual. The pulleys won't line up and the belts are all crooked. The power steering belt is the same length as the alternator belt, does the power steering belt have to run from to crank, water pump and power steering pump or can it I just get a smaller belt and run it directly from the crank?
The truck is an '82, the motor is a '79 four bolt and the power steering pump is from an '85.
