94 engine vs 99 engine

When did Chevy update the engine that's in the 99's... was it 94 or 95?....

The question comes because I had to get rid of my dipstick for the turbo conversion, and now that I'm going back I need a new dipstick and tube... the junkyard has one from a 94 cavalier but I'm not sure if it's the same one or not. Plus I also found a 94 on ebay...sigh...
