Noise In Front End

I have a 98 which has a noise which sounds like it is from the drivers side front, sometimes when I make a slight turn to the left and start to move I hear a clunk sound and it seems like it may be felt in the floor, the car has just had a state inspection and the front end is tight, the dealer just realigned the sub frame and that did not fix it, we also replaced the front sway bar bushings. This sound only started after replacing the transmission?
The noise is more offen when the car is facing upwards and a slight left turn.

Re: Noise In Front End

Bad drive axle CV joint comes to mind.

Also, the strut bearing plate (at the top of the strut ) may be bad, also possibly a bad (worn or loose) control arm bushing.

Re: Noise In Front End

I am having the same problem with my 99. I have replaced just about evey thing and I think I now know what it is. Sit in the car and have someone shake the ride hight sensor. There is a good chance that is you source. I have yet to come up with a good fix. Anyone have any ideas.

Re: Noise In Front End

that would be the cv or cb joint whatever they call it. look under your tire where you hear and feel the noise there should be a rubber boot towards the inside of the tire if its not sealed that would be your problem. which comes from the air drying out the grease and not lubricating it while turning. that sounds like your problem because ive had a few front wheel drive cars that have done that.

Re: Noise In Front End

I thought the same thing about the Cv joints; however, I am getting the same noise from the rear as well and there are no axels back there.
