1998 Mercury Grand Marquis

The emergency brake light is blinking from time to time.
I never have used the emergency brake.
Please advise.

First thing to do is to look and see if the fluid in the master cylinder is low. If it is low, have the brakes inspected for being worn down to the point of replacement. If the brakes are OK, look for a small leak. If brake fluid is OK, there is a switch on top of the e-brake assembly that may be faulty. Usually it is low fluid level. Especially if light flickers on acceleration, turns or fairly hard stops.

Following your instructions, I found the brake fluid was too low. I added brake fluid and the problem was correct.
