2001 Impala temp guage and a/c

I have a 2001 Impala and on a recent long road trip my temp guage stopped working which also shut off my air conditioner. The next day the guage worked again and the a/c worked fine. Are the two connected somehow. Not sure what to look for.

As strange as it may sound its your thermostat defective. Replaced mine working as normal.

Had same problem. Changed thermostat and fixed problem.
