Need info on replacing 04- f150 manifold

Can some one tell how to replace the exhaust manifold on my 2004 f150. Is it a difficult job?

Material Item Specification
Metal Surface Prep ZC-31


With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-00.
Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-00.
Remove the RH heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor. For additional information, refer to Section 303-04B.
Remove the RH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Section 309-00.
Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to Section 303-04B.
Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.


Item Part Number Description
1 W701706 RH exhaust manifold nuts (8 req'd)
Installation Note
2 9430 RH exhaust manifold
Removal Note
3 9448 RH exhaust manifold gasket
Removal Note

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Items 2 and 3: RH Exhaust Manifold and Gasket Removal Note

Remove the RH exhaust manifold lower studs.

CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs, or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These may cause scratches and gouges resulting in leak paths. Use a plastic scraper to clean the sealing surfaces.

Remove the RH exhaust manifold.
Discard the gasket.
Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep.
Item 1: RH Exhaust Manifold Nuts Installation Note

Tighten the RH exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown.

Removal and Installation

5 9448 LH exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts (2 req'd)
6 9430 RH exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts (2 req'd)
7 W701706 LH exhaust pipe clamp
8 — Y-pipe support bracket bolts (2 req'd)
9 W701706 LH dual converter Y-pipe assembly

10 W701706 LH exhaust manifold nuts (8 req'd)

Using the special tool, remove the HO2S.

Item 9: LH Dual Converter Y-pipe Assembly Removal Note

Position the LH dual converter Y-pipe assembly aside.
Items 11 and 12: LH Exhaust Manifold and Gasket Removal Note

Remove the LH exhaust manifold.
Discard the gasket.
Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep.
Item 10: LH Exhaust Manifold Nuts Installation Note

Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown.

Items 2 and 4: Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Removal Note

Using the special tool, install the HO2S.
