seeking some experienced advice

I'm looking at purchasing my first imported vehicle. I've found one that I believe will suit my purposes and price range wich is nominal.
I would like some ideas on part availability and cost for these vehicles.

The car I'm looking at is a...

1994 318is 2dr, 5sp standard. I'm told that it runs, rides, and shifts just fine. The one mechanical problem I'm told is that the a/c is off and on. "hit a good bump and it might go on/off". That worries me on repair cost. The interior is in pretty rough shape but useable granted I can find parts over time. The vehicle also has 206,400 miles on it. However it's being sold for $1,795.00

I guess the nitty gritty is I'm looking for some experienced BMW people's advice on whether this car would be worth the asking price and/or fixing up. It's being bought to drive back and forth from work to get better mileage than my 13mpg truck.

Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like [email protected]

Thanks
